Cuttlefish

Keep the work separate from the view of it.

A window is a presentation of work

An objective can involve conversation, independent agents, source observations, artifacts and pending decisions. A window shows part of that work. Moving or closing the window does not by itself mean the objective has changed or that its agent should be canceled.

That distinction matters when several responsibilities run at once. A person can inspect a technical page, arrange Companions or bring a result forward while retaining the surrounding work. Presentation should not force the person to restart an assignment or reconstruct its context.

Different kinds of retained information answer different questions

A conversation records what was said. An objective describes the intended outcome. A saved artifact preserves a work product. A source observation describes information seen at a particular point. An action result reports what happened at the relevant system boundary.

These should not be treated as interchangeable evidence. A retained answer may still be useful without being current. A view of a result does not prove that its originating agent is still running. A prepared operation does not prove that a connected system accepted it.

Saving is an explicit product state

Useful work can be retained for review and reuse under the product’s actual saving and retention controls. The person needs to know what is saved, where it is available and what happens when saving is disabled or a record is deleted. The current Privacy and product documentation govern those details.

A browser holding a view in memory is not proof of a durable saved copy. Nor does reopening an App prove that all of its former sources remain available. Restored work must respect current permissions and make missing information or unavailable dependencies clear.

Continue from what is actually known

Home can supervise outstanding responsibilities and bring available results back into the objective. A continuation should account for completed work, unresolved dependencies and decisions still required. It should not repeat a completed consequential operation merely because its presentation was interrupted.

When a connection drops, the system may know that a request was attempted without knowing whether its destination applied it. That uncertainty matters. The responsible next step is to reconcile the existing operation where supported, rather than manufacture completion or assume that retrying is harmless.

Cancellation, revocation and recovery are distinct

Cancellation stops work according to the operation’s current state and supported controls. Revocation changes what an identity may access or do. Recovery restores usable state or reconciles an interrupted outcome. None of these words should imply that a completed external effect has automatically been reversed.

An agent should preserve the difference between a completed result, an unfinished task, a refusal and a failure. Continuity is useful when it makes those states easier to understand and resume safely; it is not a promise that every failure is recoverable without intervention.

Evaluate the actual environment

This reference does not promise universal cross-device availability, exactly-once execution, unlimited retention or total recovery. Those properties depend on the selected release, storage and service behavior, available connections and applicable agreements.

On the website, guest work follows the current website saving and privacy controls. Juniper Coffee remains a fictional example. For installed organizational use, evaluate restart, interrupted work, changed access and recovery using representative workflows and the actual supported deployment.
